Michael Harding is the guest of Blue Valentines at the Cafe Sessions.

Enjoy all the drama of a night at the theatre combined with a glass of wine, coffee or bagel when Blue Valentines presents The Tinker's Curse at the Cafe Sessions in Chapter One cafe on Cavan's Main Street this Thursday, January 14.

The Tinker's Curse is a play written by Michael Harding, which won critical acclaim when performed in the Ramor theatre.

"It presents the humanity of the travelling community, and deals with guilt and the desire for forgiveness common to all humanity; a provoking and engaging piece of theatre," according to David Joyce, barrister and travellers rights activist.

In Chapter One this week, writer Harding, who is also an actor, will perform this piece adapted from the Irish Times Theatre Award nominated play. Michael Harding was born in Cavan in 1953. He is a playwright, newspaper columnist and fiction writer and his work has been performed in Dublin, Cork, Edinburgh, New York and Chicago. He is a past recipient of the Stewart Parker Theatre Bursary and the Bank of Ireland/RTÉ Award for excellence in the Arts (both 1990), and was writer-in-association with The Abbey Theatre in 1993. Also an experienced actor, he took the award for Best Male Performer at the 2003 Dublin Fringe Festival. He has published several novels: Priests, The Trouble With Sarah Gullion, and Bird In The Snow. A member of Aosdána, he lives in Mullingar and writes a weekly column in The Irish Times.

The Cafe Sessions, which will feature Pierce Turner on January 28, are supported by Cavan Arts Office. Admission is free but patrons can make a voluntary donation.

The performance starts at 8pm.
