Could you be the next Cavan Rose?

The first step on what will hopefully be the glamorous road to Tralee will take place on Friday, April 12 at Kilmore Hotel with the selection night for the Cavan Rose. Any young woman who enters the 2013 Cavan Rose selection will get the royal treatment and be in with a chance to become the 2013 Rose of Tralee. A €25,000 world travel prize fund, the use of a brand new car for the year, a treasure trove of Newbridge Jewellery and a chance to become an Ambassador for Cavan and Ireland await the next Rose of Tralee. Cavan Roses hopefuls will aim to impress the judges when they appear on stage to speak with MC Conor Philips and perform their party pieces. The winning Rose will represent Cavan at the regional festival in June in Portlaoise, and the main event in Tralee is scheduled for August 14-20. Recalling her year as 2012 Cavan Rose, Alison Harpur, says that all the effort was well worth it. "My year as the Cavan Rose 2012, is one I will remember forever," she said. "As soon as I arrived in Portlaoise for the Regional Festival, I realised that I had become part of a huge family. "I have made new friends from all around Ireland and throughout world, with open invites to travel and visit. The Rose of Tralee festival presents a huge number of opportunities to its Roses of which one could not even dream of and is something I would encourage all girls to take part in." Local businesses, sports organisations and professional groupings are invited to take part in what promises to be a memorable Cavan Rose selection event and application forms are now available from www.roseoftralee.ie.
