Felix hits Chapter 1 tonight.

Sonnyboy Felix on tonight's musical menu at Café Sessions

World travelling street minstrel and poet Felix Sonnyboy Wilson lands at the Café Sessions tonight. A songster with traditional and an original song combination touring Ireland to promote his album coming out this summer 'Songs from a Doghouse'.
Felix began his journey at 17 after graduating high school, he took his mother's banjo from the wall and moved to Burlington Vermont, collecting old records and learning a few songs on the five-string. He spent his days singing at the Radio Bean in Burlington and becoming a busker on Church St for the love of spreading old-time music.
Aged 19, he busked with a buddy as a duet through Europe. Singing gospel and country music they moved from Paris to Barcelona and on to Florence. Then Felix made his way to Ireland busking from Grafton Sreet in Dublin to Shop Street in Galway.

Solo album
After extensive travelling, hiking, and hitch-hiking, Felix returned to Burlington and recorded a solo album ‘Take a Walk, Opie’. Later that year he went back to Bellingham to form a country rock band called the Muddy Boots band, playing weekly gigs around western Washington.
The spring of 2008 brought two new albums ‘American Folk Songs for Families’ and the Muddy Boots album entitled ‘How Has It Come To Be?’. Since the summer of 2008 he has returned to Europe playing shows at venues around Ireland.
Tonight's support comes from local girl Áine Cahill. The talented 19-year-old has played support in the Café Sessions before, and is a favourite with the Chapter One crowd.

Sonnyboy and Aine play on Thursday, March 27, 8pm.
While there’s no admission, suggested donation is €5, and for the unwaged €3. The gig is assisted by Cavan Co Council Arts Awards and The Anglo-Celt.
