Lavey lass to vie for junior miss ireland tiara

A little Lavey lass will compete in Limerick next month for the prized tiara of Junior Miss Ireland.
Rebecca Cullivan (10) a pupil of Ms Breda Gallagher at Kilconnan NS will go for the pre-teen crown after recently winning our own Miss Junior Cavan.
Rebecca is a keen drama and dance student with the Gonzo Theatre group and Soul Boyz Cavan dance troupe.
Mother Marcella says that, as part of the competition, the year-long participatrion in events and fundraisers has been “great personal development” for Rebecca, who has twice appeared on Cavan TV.
“As part of the Junior Miss Rebecca has been to the Rock ’n’ Roll marathon and the half marathon helping out with fundraisers like the Killykeen walk for Cavan SPCA and with the Lavey Senior Citizens group,” says Marcella.
These efforts throughout the year are recorded and photographed by Rebecca for her competition journal, which judges interview her about at the event.
There are also different categories for outfits, including a mother-daughter entry where they jointly create an Irish-themed costume for the November 22 event.
“It’s a personality-based competition and Rebecca has come on leaps and bounds and is comfortable speaking in public, for example, and is very happy, more confident now. “Rebecca would like to thank family, friends, especially Maisy Roisin and Layla. As well as self development, it has also taught Rebecca that when you put your mind into something you can do it and how you should put 100% into all you do and always do your best regardless of whether you win. What you learn along the way is more important,” she says.
Rebecca plans to do charity work with Laura Lynn next year and also do the Darkness into Light walk for Pieta House - she is already training at Laragh GAA club twice a week!

Good luck, Rebecca!
