Love is in the air in lavey

It’s a Valentine’s spectacular at the Lavey Inn this weekend with the debut appearance of the popular, high-energy, two-piece 'Rhythm and Sticks’.
Frontman Emmet Flood is a Longford man but now living in Mullahoran and makes up the 'rhythm’ element of the duo; while drummer Sean O’Reilly from Mullahoran is the man with the sticks. The guys have had pubs hopping from Kilkenny all the way to Cavan and Longford since they put the two-piece on the road a few years back.
From Johnny Cash to Mumford and Sons renditions, and even some more traditional country and jive numbers, expect toes a tapping, plenty of dancing and maybe even a bit of buck leppin’.
Rhythm and Sticks will take to the stage from 7-9.30pm. No cover charge but the advice is “come early to avoid disappointment”, says Seamus in the Lavey.

But before the big debut, the Lavey will kick-off its weekend festivities with social dancing classes on Thursday evening from 8-9.30pm, followed by a social dance with 'Quickstep’.
Catch your breath on Friday in preparation for Valentine’s night - Saturday - where there will be a special of a four-course dinner and cocktail for €30 a head. Booking essential.
To round off a great weekend in the Lavey on Sunday night, the popular Francie Smith is taking to the stage at 10.30pm and is sure to have the crowd on their feet once again. No cover charge.
