Local man celebrating Ballyhaise's historic County Intermediate Championship

One local man grabbed the bull by the horns- almost literally- when celebrating Ballyhaise’s historic County Intermediate Championship win at the weekend, almost riding off into the sunset in delight... atop a Freisan cow on an outback farm in Australia.

Niall Conaty, who is currently working in a milking parlour in Australia, took to Facebook at the weekend to post footage of his somewhat unusual yet celebration. Listening to local commentary of the County Final, the winning feeling travelled 15,000 kilometres from Kingspan Breffni Park to Australia where a jubilant Niall went 'the extra mile' as the GAA would put it, and rode a cow out of the milking shed, beer and team colours proudly in hand.

“My boss asked me will we win it and I replied if Kevin Tierney puts in the same performance as he did in Thailand we will,” Niall wrote home along with his video message. Tierney ended up scoring 1-2 as Ballyhaise emerged from an almost half-a-century-long famine of Championship wins. He added: “Words can’t describe how proud and happy I am for every person in ballyhaise right now. I’ll be home for Christmas, look forward to seeing each and every one of you.”
