Cavan acts Co Club takeover

Music, film, art and theatre - organisers have the lot covered at this week’s Co Club in Oldcastle - and much of it from Cavan performers.
Music will come from Travis Oaks and musical dynamo Aine Cahill. Four-piece Travis Oaks AKA Aran McGillick, Killian McCourt, Taran Plouzane and Mike Paterson are Cavan and Dublin based blues and rock outfit winning much acclaim. Armed with their debut three-track EP ‘Last Love Song’, they have enjoyed support slots for the likes of The Riptide Movement, The Strypes, Aslan and Altered Sky. After a hectic schedule of touring, which most recently included a host of gigs in Brittany, they return to Oldcastle for this eagerly anticipated Co Club.
They share the bill with the amazing Áine Cahill. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter from Castletara needs little introduction, but the uninitiated should check out ‘Paper Crown’, ‘The Pictures’ and her murder ballad ‘Black Dahlia’ to see why DJ Ian Dempsey has been smitten by her. A live performance of Black Dahlia on his morning show clocked up an incredible 62,000 views on the Today FM Facebook page in just 48 hours.
In terms of art, Mountnugent’s Tina Quinn will display some of her fabulous works. Some of her large sculptures are on permanent display in Navan and Cavan Town. Created with paper, recycled materials and bronze resins her sculptural work takes on the appearance of being made of metal. Her highly sought artworks are owned by collectors throughout the world.
Meanwhile ‘The Observation Level’, a short movie by Aidan Duffy of Dunshaughlin will also be screened on the night.
There’ll also be performance art from Tilling The Tomb Theatrics.
Co Club takes place in Creans Bar on Friday, October 30, 9pm. Free admission.
