Country Club serves up double helping of music

There’s double delight for dancers heading along to this bank holiday weekend as the Country Club host Robert Mizzell on Saturday and Derek Ryan on Sunday.

On Bank Holiday Saturday night the authentic voice of country music locally - Louisianna’s Robert Mizzell - will wow the Country Club dancers. Of course Mizzell himself released a new album just this summer, which spawned the infectious sing-along hit single Gone, Gone, Gone. A regular favourite in the Kilmore, both with his wonderful Country Kings backing band, and with his occasional side project - the country supergroup ‘The Three Amigos’ alongside Patrick Feeney and Jimmy Buckley, Mizzell is no stranger to the Dublin Road venue and jivers know they’re in for a treat come Saturday night.

The multi-award winning Derek Ryan has double delight of his own having last week released two fantastic new albums simultaneously, scoring a ‘first’ on the Irish country music scene. The singer-songwriter follows up the consecutive Number One successes of his albums, The Simple Things and One Good Night with the brand new sets, ‘This Is Me’ and ‘Happy Man’ - both out on October 21 - and he will be showcasing both in the Hotel Kilmore this Sunday night.

Constantly striving to challenge himself, 2016 saw determined Derek fitting in recording sessions in the USA, Ireland and England alongside his hectic, ever popular live show schedule.

The remarkable results from that blitz of artistic activity are the aptly titled ‘This Is Me’ – recorded in Nashville - and ‘Happy Man’. Delighted with the results of both projects, trailblazing Derek decided not to delay the release of either This Is Me or Happy Man. Instead he opted to release both sets of songs on the same day!

These are two nights definitely not to be missed by Cavan's country music faithful.
