Pieces Exhibition

What: 'Pieces' photographic exhibition - a project put together by the Ballinamore “Men’s Shed” group and the Arts Office Leitrim County Council. Admission is free with all welcome and the Exhibition will run for two weeks.

The Garth Brooks Experience

Where: The Hotel Kilmore, Cavan

What: Garth Brooks tribute act. Doors open 9pm, Raffle on the night. Supporting act Mad4Trad in aid of Action Ireland Trust.

 

Social Dancing

Big Bake-Off

Where: Bailieborough
When: April 7-8
What: Tesco, Bailieborough host a huge Cake Sale on Friday, April 7.
A ‘Fun Day’ with Face Painting, Popcorn, Candyfloss and Slush Puppies and a fab DJ on Saturday, April 8. All proceeds for new equipment for premature babies in Temple Street.

 

Table Quiz

Where: Royal Bar, Ballyjamesduff
When: Friday, April 7, 9pm.
What: Proceeds in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Table of four €40. Everyone welcome.

 

Fair day

Where: Ballymachugh
When: Saturday, April 8, 3pm
What: Easter Fair being held in St Paul's Church of Ireland Hall, Ballymachugh on Saturday, April 8, 3pm. Cakes, jams, preserves etc. All proceeds in aid of Church funds. All support would be greatly appreciated.

 

O'Rourke Play

What: The Trappe Family The Trappe Family by Seamus O'Rourke, will be performed by the Sillan Players in the Corn Mill Theatre at 8.30pm. This production directed by Paddy Farrelly has qualified for the All-Ireland Confined Finals in Tubercurry. Booking essential: 087 2570 363.

 

Strictly Launch Night

Where: Shantully Inn, Crossdoney

When: Saturday, April 8, 8.30pm

What: Aghaloora/Bruskey Festival committee launch their Strictly Come Dancing show. 23 couples will be present on the night representing all parts of the county and from as far away as Cork and Laois. Light refreshments with Gerry Brady as MC; music by Seamus McPhilips and Eamon Flood. Sure to draw a large crowd and is a perfect chance to meet all the paticipants as they prepare for their big date in the Hotel Kilmore on Sunday, May 21.

 

Boat fishing competition

What: Killeshandra Pike Anglers boat fishing competition will take place on Sunday Carr's Lake Upper Derries. Start time 10am, entry fee €10 per person.
Usual rules apply,life jackets must be worn.

Nature walk in Lough MacNean

Where: Lough MacNean

When: Sunday, April 9, noon

What: Birdwatch Ireland event - meet up in the village of Glenfarne on Sunday, April 9 at noon outside The old Ballroom of Romance (which may now be labelled the Rainbow centre). Depending on the weather we will walk a route along the lake shore and back again through the woods (a distance of about 5 km).
All aspects of natural history will be examined and described, not just birds. Outing to take between 3-4 hours including a 45 minute stop for our personal picnic lunch. No toilets, drinking water etc or other facilities within the forest so bring food an drinks. Recommended footwear is reasonably stout walking shoes or boots.

 

Keane play

‘Emer’s Evening’

Where: Bailie Hotel

What: Padraic and Lisa McIntyre host a follow up to their origninal fundraiser five years ago for Temple Street Children’s Hospital after their daughter Emer was born. All proceeds will go to St. Felim’s N.S. Playground. The line-up for this event is one of the best ever assembled in the town: House Band Kudos, MCs Neal and Fergal Tully (The Goggle Box Twins), The Strypes, Charlie McGettigan (Eurovision Winner), Kevin McGahern (The Republic of Telly), Elenor Shanley (Singer), Michael Harding (Writer), Seamus O’Rourke (Writer and Actor), Saramai Leech (Singer/Songwriter), Geoff Minogue and Mike Sheehan (Fair City), Jane McGrath and Pa Ryan (Red Rock), Aoibhinn McGinity and Ian Lloyd Anderson (Love/ Hate), Manus Halligan (Actor), Peter Daly (Actor), Janet Moran (Actress), Aaron Monaghan (Actor), Clare Monnelly (Actress) and Jayne Origan and friends (Musical Theatre) and Conor McIntyre (Brother). 
Doors open at 7.30pm; show starts 8pm. Tickets €25 from The Bailie Hotel and Supervalu.

 

Creative Ireland workshop

Where: Hotel Kilmore, Cavan

When: Monday, April 10, 6.30pm

What: Cathaoirleach of Cavan Co. Council Councillor Fergal Curtin and Minister for Arts Heather Humphreys TD host a public workshop about Creative Ireland 2017-2022. A major new culture and creativity initiative designed to get communities actively engaged with arts and culture. A presentation by Creative Ireland will be followed by a workshop facilitated by Cavan Co. Council on 'Creative Cavan'. All are welcome.
