Huge local line up for benefit concert

A host of hugely talented local musicians have been lined up for an evening of music in support of the family of Doireann O'Brien, the young Cavan teen who died suddenly last month.

Titled 'All the colours of the Rainbow', and taking place at the Townhall Arts Centre in Cavan on Sunday, April 9 from 5-8pm, the event is being organised as a celebration of the young girl's life, and for a family well-known for their input into the art scene locally.
As well as several special guest appearances, among those set to play will include Grainne Conaty, Cian Rock, The Shuck Dodgers, Karina Charles and Andrew Lynch, Daragh Slacke, Bill Kearney, Geraldine McDonald, Cormac McCann, Ferdia O'Brien, Lee O'Brien, Fiona Fitzpatrick as well as members of the Cavan Big Band.
Also scheduled to take to the stage are Ray Fitzsimons, Jamie Byrne, Annie June Callaghan and Robbie Perry among others.
'It is about the community to support the family. Where words fail music speaks,' organiser Aisling Fay told The Anglo-Celt this week.
With plenty of children's fun events also taking places, and raffles for spot prizes on the night, tickets are priced €15, and are available from Multisound in Cavan Town and the Arts Centre.
