Ian Hall with his new CD.

Former pupil releases CD for Holy Family School

Not too many people could perform live in Dunnes Stores at the drop of a hat, well new Country singing star Ian Hall from Scotshouse did just that last Thursday morning, as members of the staff and amused customers clapped along.

The son of Laura and Robert Hall, Ian was in the Dunnes to promote his new CD and, in the process, raise funds for the Holy Family School in Cootehill.
The former pupil at the school, Ian now works on the family farm at Crussin, near Scotshouse, is no stranger to performing on stage, having sang with the likes of Declan Nearney.
His mum Laura revealed that singing is in their blood as her grandfather and the legendary Big Tom McBride’s father were first cousins.
Singing on stage has “always been my big passion – this is what I have always wanted to do – it is a great feeling when everyone is clapping you on”, said a smiling Ian.
Apart from Country Music, he also likes listening to West Life and Boys Own.
Ian is no stranger to the stage as he has also performed with various stars at Country nights in the Hotel Kilmore in Cavan. He has sang with Declan Nearney in the Four Seasons in Monaghan, the John McIntyre fundraising concerts in the Errigal House Hotel Cootehill and variety concerts including Bunnoe Crackers.
“The recording of this CD is a dream come true for me. I love performing on stage with all the stars,” said Ian.
When the manager of Dunnes Stores in Cavan, Kevin O’Reilly, heard about Ian’s talent and his new CD, he decided to offer Ian an opportunity to sell his new recording at the Dunnes Stores carpark between 10am and 5pm on Saturday, April 22.
“We were very impressed by Ian great upbeat attitude and the support of his parents, Laura and Robert. It is great that he is being afforded an opportunity to use his talents”, said Kevin.
“Hopefully people will support him on the day – the money raised from the sale of the CD is all going to The Holy Family School in Cootehill, which is a great cause,” said Mr O’Reilly.
Ian thanked Kevin for the opportunity to sell the CD at the carpark on Saturday, April 22.
The CD features eleven songs by well known artists on the Country Music scene including Mike Denver, Declan Nearney, Robert Mizzell, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash and costs just €10.
It is also available from Multisound, Cavan, Sally West Cavan, from Padraig at Bunnoe Co-Op, O’Neill’s Redhills and Ballyhaise Post Office.
