Cavan builders merchants honoured
Homemakers and JP Brady And Son Ltd have scooped national awards. The former won the County Cavan Award and the latter won the Family Business Award in the Octabuild Builders Merchant Awards 2011.
Homemakers is a previous winner of the Octabuild Builders Merchant County Cavan Award. In business in Cavan for over 30 years, it employs 28 full time and 20 part time staff. JP Brady And Son Ltd is also a previous winner in these awards.
A third generation family-run business operating in Virginia for 75 years, the store was recently revamped to enable greater product expansion and a state-of-the-art paint centre.
Introducing the awards the chairman of Octabuild, Tom O'Callaghan, said: "In the present economic climate virtually every business in the country is feeling the pressure on sales and margins.
Despite the difficulties there is considerable innovation been shown by builders merchants and there is a considerable shift in the way traditional builders merchants are reacting to the changing environment." Between them the Octabuild companies have over 650 years manufacturing experience in Ireland, and directly employ over 1,400 people here.
