Garda appeal as man killed in Mountain Lodge accident

Gardaí are investigating after a 59-year-old man who was returning home from a charity tractor run was fatally injured when his tractor overturned in a field on Sunday evening.

Stanley Moore of Tonagh Bale, Ashfield, Mountain Lodge, was driving his red international vintage tractor home when the tragedy occurred. The accident happened on the Cootehill to Mountain Lodge in the townland of Dooreagh, Mountain Lodge at about 7.50pm.

It would appear that the tractor veered off the road and overturned in the field and was located upside down in a ditch. Mr Moore was removed to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The road was closed for a number of hours as gardai from the Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene. Diversions were in place.

Gardai in Bailieboro are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the vicinity to contact them on 042-9665102.
