Time is ticking down on your chance to vote for who you believe is deserving of the title The Anglo-Celt/ Rehab Cavan Person of the Year Awards 2012-13.

Nomination forms are available on Page 10 in this week's paper and the deadline for receipt of nominations is 12 noon on Thursday, February 14.

The annual People of the Year Awards provide a unique opportunity for the public to honour those local who have made a real difference to people's lives, whether as unsung heroes or household names.

The ten categories are:

- Grandparent of the Year

- Carer of the Year

- Emigrant of the Year

- Community Group of the Year

- Young Person of the Year - for exceptional achievements by a young person (aged 18 or under)

- Sports Person of the Year

- Community Volunteer of the Year

- People of the Year Awards

- Neighbour of the Year Award

- Fundraiser of the Year

Past winners of the prestigious overall Cavan Person of the Year Award have been Milltown's Mary Lawlor in 2011-12 for her efforts as a community volunteer and David Mulligan in 2010-11 for his work with many good causes.

The Anglo-Celt/ Rehab Cavan Person of the Year, and category winners will be announced at a gala banquet in the Hotel Kilmore, Cavan on Thursday night, March 21.
