Gardaí are looking to establish the identity of the hoax 'bomb' caller, who used a Belturbet phone box.

Investigation into identity of hoax 'bomb' caller

A family home in a South Fermanagh village had to be evacuated in the early hours of last Wednesday morning (March 27), following the discovery of a suspicious device, which gardaí have since confirmed was an “elaborate hoax”.
The device was located in a area known as Clough - a small village just two kilometres south of Roslea.
It was the second time in less than a week that security on both sides of the border have been placed on high alert, following the discovery of an abandoned bomb outside nearby Derrylin the week before last.
It is understood that a phone call was made from the telephone kiosk on The Diamond in Belturbet to the PSNI on Tuesday night (March 26). The PSNI traced the number back to the kiosk and they alerted the gardaí. The kiosk was sealed off for technical examination.
Though the device was confirmed as a hoax, the investigation continues into the identity of the person who made the Belturbet call.
