Crash near Corduff Cross, five taken to hospital

Gardai have closed off the road near Corduff Cross, after a serious crash there this afternoon left people requiring hospital treatment.
It is understood that five people have been taken to Cavan General Hospital, after a two-car collision occurred on the road just after 2pm.
The injuries of those involved were being described as ‘serious’ as details were still emerging late this afternoon.
Gardai orginally said the road would be closed for an hour but at 6.30pm confirmed it was still closed and that alternative routes would be used until the scene was cleared.
The seriousness of the injuries is not yet known.
AA Roadwatch confirmed the crash on their website just after 6pm:
“The local road between Corduff and Gowna Village is closed until further notice following a serious crash. Diversions are in place.”
