Man in critical condition after assault at Cavan apartment

Three people have been arrested in connection with an assault in Cavan Town in the early hours of the morning.

Gardai responded to a call out at the Stonebridge apartments, off Railway Road, at around 3am, and discovered a 55-year-old with serious injuries.

The male was subsequently rushed to Cavan General Hospital, where his condition this morning was described as “critical”, but stable.

The man has now been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for further treatment.

Two men, aged 25 and 55, and a woman aged 27 have been arrested and are, at the present time, being questioned at Cavan Garda Station.

The scene has been preserved as the garda investigation continues.
