QBRC group speak out against latest attack

Following reports of an arson attack on Quinn Packaging, Quinn Business Retention Company have condemned the spate of dangerous and distructive incidents which have blighted former Quinn companies since the appointment of a share receiver.

Speaking last night, QBRC director John McCartin said 'these attacks serve no purpose other than to destabilise the business and put jobs at risk'.

'QBRC was formed with a view to keeping the old Quinn Manufacturing Group together, keeping the jobs in the area and growing the business for the future. We would appeal to those who are carrying out these attacks, to stop the sabotage of the regions most valuable economic asset.' McCartin concluded.

QBRC, a consortium of local business men and former Quinn Group directors, have approached current management at the former Quin Group, now Aventas Group with a view to engage in negotiations with a view to buying out the manufacturing group.

In what was the fifth arson attack on Aventas Group property since December last year, last night, a car was crashed and burned out at the entrance to the 'Quinn Packaging' entrance near Ballyconnell, at around 9.30pm tonight (Thursday, March 13).

It took fire units from both Ballyconnell and Belturbet to bring the blaze, which also damaged the exterior of the building, under control.
