Oldcastle priest is internet singing sensation

A local priest has become an overnight internet singing sensation, after a video of him surprising a couple at a wedding with an impromptu song was posted online.

The video of Father Ray Kelly, a parish priest in Oldcastle has since gone viral, claiming several hundred thousand views from people tuning in to hear his customised rendition of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'.

Chris and Leah O'Kane were getting wed when Fr Kelly, a native of Tyrrelstown, Westmeath, and well known in the locality for his singing talent broke into song.

The video of Fr Kelly is now trending worldwide on social media websites and he told Ryan Tubridy on 2FM earlier this week: “I like to sing, music is part of the family, it's always been in the genes”.

Another example of Fr Kelly's singing talents can be seen here, this time at another couple's wedding. Instead of closing the ceremony as planned, the priest unleashed a big surprise for the couple.
