Dunne and Flanagan banned, board fined €5K for Armagh melee

Cavan County Board has been fined €5,000 and two players have been banned for their part in the weekend melee with Armagh at the Athletic Grounds. It is understood that the decision from the CCCC will not be appealed but the county board will meet tomorrow night on the matter - within the 72-hour timeframe allowed for appeals to be lodged. Forward Martin Dunne and defender Feargal Flanagan have both been banned for a match each - though Dunne would have missed the Westmeath clash anyway because of the fracture to his hand that occurred in the pre-match brawl that shocked fans.
Armagh received the same fine but had three players suspended for a game each: Brendan Donaghy, Kieran Toner and Andy Mallon.
It is understood that Armagh will appeal the decision.
Both boards were informed by the CCCC this morning, after the investigation into the Ulster Senior Championship first round match, which Cavan lost 1-12 to 0-09 on Sunday.
