Cruising for business...

McMahon's Furniture Store in Belturbet has now evolved into a recession busting store with the news this week that all shoppers making purchases will be taken for a luxury cruise on the river Erne.

Store owner Tommy McMahon came up with the idea of 'cruising for business', when he recently observed how fascinated people were with the chance to get behind the wheel of a cruiser on the water, when he organised a number of boating events.

The family-owned cruiser affords the ideal opportunity to give back some unique appreciation to the customers for their business."We are essentially acknowledging the purchases people are making in our store. We are also introducing them to an entire new world, many for the very first time," he said.

The Anglo-Celt took the opportunity to accompany a number of customers on a cruise on last Wednesday afternoon and it's fair to report that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Elaine Maguire and Joanne McKiernan were thrilled with their afternoon cruise in the sunshine and will never forget their very first opportunity to steer a luxury cruiser on the Erne. The happy smiles on their faces clearly illustrated that these ladies think that shopping and cruising go hand in hand.

Tommy would like to think that the picturesque town of Belturbet will cruise out of these recessionary times with entrepreneurial flair and initiative.

Using the natural resource that is the river Erne, to create a feel good factor amongst shoppers is a rippling good start.
