Deadline for Poultry Welfare Scheme extended

The extension of the deadline for completion of works under the Poultry Welfare Scheme has been welcomed by a Fine Gael Cavan-Monaghan TD.

"I am extremely pleased that Minister Simon Coveney has announced this extension," said Deputy Heather Humphreys.

"A number of poultry farmers in the Cavan-Monaghan area have brought this matter to my attention and outlined the difficulties that the December 31 deadline represented for them with regard to obtaining bank finance.

"I made a number of representations to the Minister on this issue and I am delighted to learn today that the deadline for completion of works has now been extended to 28 September 2012.
