Tom's treasured memories of the Celt over four decades
The Anglo-Celt's deputy editor Tom Carron has retired after 42 years as a staff journalist in Irish regional newspapers, 38 and a half of which were working on this paper. Tom started work in the Fermanagh Herald when the North's conflict was getting underway, before moving for a spell in Roscommon. It was Cavan where he spent the lionshare of his career and here he reflects on his time in the Breffni County.

A new electric heating system for weaner pigs designed by a Cavan designer could substantially reduce energy costs for farmers in the pork sector. The Ultimat electric heat canopy was designed by Cavan businessman Damien Donohoe in order to help reduce costs by focusing heat in specific areas.

Plans for weekend event in Cavan for St Patrick's Day
The committee that formed last year to take over the organisation of the St Patrick's Day Parade are planning a major festival on the long weekend of March 16-19. Members of the committee made a presentation to Cavan Town Council at their January meeting in a bid to secure €7,500 for the festival, which will cost over €15,000 by the time a family fun day on the Sunday is factored in.

No derrogation for Cavan on septic tanks
