You could call it driving ambition or maybe it's that the people at Belturbet Golf Club have good fore-sight... but next week (July 26-31) they are offering the cheapest round of golf in Ireland.
Belturbet town councillor Tony Gorby has lavished praise on the club for its initiative. He extended his congratulations at Monday night's meeting of the Town Council and said that after scanning all of the golf websites he could not see the Belturbet club being surpassed in terms of real value for money.
"All ladies and gents from anywhere in the world can play a round of golf in Belturbet next week during the Festival of the Erne for just €5," revealed Cllr. Gorby.
"The golf and festival committees welcome all-comers and I congratulate both for showing great foresight during this downturn," he said.
Describing Belturbet as a testing tree lined course located within the town boundary, Cllr. Gorby said the club welcomed new members with special rates available to distance and beginner members.
There were also special green fee rates for societies and group bookings, added the councillor, who describes Belturbet as "the best wee town in Ireland".
