Residents in 'fine fettle' in autumnal Kingscourt
A day in the life in any town or village in the county can throw up lots of interesting and sometimes hilarious insights into how people are getting on with things, despite bankers and governments. When photographer Brian Mulligan and myself hit the town of Kingscourt last Thursday, we found people in fine fettle from all walks of life. Our first encounter was with Leo Maguire in Maguire's Butchers who revealed that he has been in the business for well over 40 years. With Christmas coming and the turkeys getting fat, Leo expects the orders to roll in from his customers as normal. He was anxious to point out that the quality meat in the shop comes directly from animals on their own farm and this is also complimented by purchasing quality cattle in the sales. Meet more people from Sean McMahon's Rural Rambles in this week's Anglo-Celt.
