Investigation into Lough Erne resort fire

PSNI and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service are to begin an investigation after a fire broke out at the luxury Lough Erne Resort, on Belleek Road just outside Enniskillen on Monday (November 18) shortly after 7am. It was reported that some 25 crew members across six separate brigades of the NI Fire and Rescue Service, from Enniskillen, Irvinestown, Lisnaskea, Belleek, and Strabane attended the blaze at the luxury resort, and the fire was extinguished just after 10am. Its said the blaze began in the spa and pool area of the three-storey hotel. The building, of which the first floor was said to be heavily smoke-logged, was evacuated of guests and no injures have been reported. The hotel has said at no time were of its guests in any danger. The fire at the hotel comes only days after speculation began to mount that the resort was currently being considered as a venue for the G8 summit of leading industrial nations, which hosts the leaders from some of the world's most powerful nations.
