Where's the money?

Madam,

Last week in the Public Notices section I saw an application by Waterways Ireland to develop the Ulster Canal. Waterways Ireland are wasting their time because the Irish government have not got the millions to fund this project.

While people lie on trolleys at Cavan Hospital, and Monaghan and Roscommon hospitals closed, Waterways Ireland and Clones Town Council have as much chance of getting this money as "Dana" has of becoming President.

The dogs in the street in Clones know that there will never be an Ulster Canal because the money is not there and most of this project section is in Co Fermanagh.

Give the people of Monaghan town a proper hospital and forget the Ulster Canal. The Ulster Canal will not save lives but Monaghan Hospital will.

Yours faithfully,

Paddy Kearney, Drumhaw Road, Lisnaskea
