Anglo-Celt Rehab Cavan Person of the Year 2010 nominees - Jack Keyes

Jack Keyes has played an active role in projecting all that is positive in the life of County Cavan since he was appointed county manager in 2004. A strategic thinker, he has pushed the county's profile in terms of its tourism and artistic strengths and his willingness to take on the job of chairman of the 2010 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann committee (on top of his other responsibilities) has endeared him to the people of Breffni who see Jack as a man who will not shirk a difficult challenge in order to help his adopted county.

The All Ireland Fleadh in Cavan was a huge success and its benefits to the county in promotional terms could not be bought in advertising terms. It showed the people of Cavan to be generous and welcoming and its success is a tribute to Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and all involved in making this premier national cultural event such a wonderful occasion.

Jack Keyes played a pivotal role in the successful outcome of the Fleadh. We look forward to a similar success in 2011 under his management.

A courteous, dedicated man, he has important leadership skills which are manifest across a wide field of endeavour. Cavan has benefited from his engineering skills with an unprecedented level of infrastructure development.

The emphasis on improving access facilities for the disabled was recognised in the county council being honoured nationally for its access schemes, displaying the hallmark of Jack Keyes' thinking. A practical humanitarian, his work in promoting the Breffni Geopark and the Castlesaunderson Scouting project are other examples of his desire to shape the direction of County Cavan into the future in a positive fashion. He has much to offer and Cavan has much to benefit from Jack. We applaud him for his efforts.
