Cavan football manager talks about fair play in St Bricin's
This week in St Bricin's was Anti-Bullying Awareness Week and the school community was delighted to welcome Val Andrews current manager of the Cavan Senior Gaelic team to launch the initiative. He is employed as a lecturer in the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB) and previously managed Louth and the Dublin Junior football team in 2007.

Burn the bondholders - protesters
As the Irish government handed over €1.25bn to Anglo Irish Bank's unsecured bondholders last week many Cavan people condemned the decision and voiced their anger at a protest organised by Sinn Féin. The party called on the people to hand postcards into their local Government TD, Joe O'Reilly, to "Stop the Handover". A letter of protest was also handed into Deputy O'Reilly's constituency office. The Anglo-Celt's Michael Cryan was on hand to hear what the people had to say.

Cavan Fianna Fáil Senator Diarmuid Wilson has said that he is one of the many thousands of Irish people who are being chased by banks as a result of the recession. He made the comments after an article in the Sunday Independent last weekend revealed that he is one of three people being sued by AIB for a €1.8m loan.

Over €11m in roads funding for county
Cavan County Council has been given a roads allocation of €11,162,955 to carry out its roads programme in 2012. The amount allocated by the Department of Transport represents a hefty reduction, equating to approximately eleven per cent on last year.
