Drunk man refused to go home

A Cootehill man who was found to be very drunk by Garda Roddy at Market Street, Cootehill, and was ordered to go home, was encounterted again a short time later in the same street with a naggin of cider in his hand.

  Garda John Roddy again directed John Langan, 34 Drumnaveil, Cootehill to go home but he refused to go home.

  Judge Sean MacBride sentenced the defendant to two months in Castlerea prison for an offence of engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour on the 13th November, 2006 at Main Street, Cavan. 

He gave him a concurrent two months for engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Market Street, Cootehill on the 22nd July, 2007 and failing to comply with a garda direction to leave the area concerned in a peaceful manner, when directed to do so.

  Bail was fixed at a cash lodgement of €500, in the event of any appeal to the Circuit Court.
