Belturbet and Virginia on 'head shop' alert

As parents mounted a protest on a 'head shop' in Oldcastle over the weekend, the lightning reaction of a Bailieboro auctioneer prevented a similar shop from opening in the town at the eleventh hour. Already, there are head shops operating in Cavan town and Ballyconnell; while The Anglo-Celt has learned that would-be entrepreneurs looking to jump on the band wagon and earn a quick buck are targeting others towns in the county such as Belturbet, Ballyjamesduff and Virginia to open similar outlets selling legal highs or alternatives to cannabis, ecstasy and cocaine.
