Let it fleadh!

The scene is set. All that remains is for the show - complete with pageant, fireworks, concerts, ceol, craic and competitions - to kick off.

People are flocking home, friends and relatives are visiting and some 200,000 regular All-Ireland Fleadh-goers are also to converge on the town. Roadworks are being finished, new signage is up, floral displays everywhere, temporary installations making quite a statement, the Quinn Direct Dome at Cavan Institute is in the making and even here in 'The Celt' office, we're running into creative-looking arty types in the kitchen.

Rumours that businesses in the town will be removing windows so they can serve punters out on the street haven't been confirmed, but from what we're told, anything is possible when the fleadh comes to town.

Local trad' legend and chair of the events and entertainment for the event, Martin Donohoe, is on a mission "to put Cavan into the Fleadh, not just put the Fleadh into Cavan."

Meanwhile, the chair of the accommodation sub-committee, Don Crotty, is making a last-chance appeal for accommodation in the Cavan town area, even if only for one or two nights.

It's all systems go; all guns blazing; lights, camera and action... And fingers crossed, it'll be fleadh-bulous!
