11,000 Cavan houses to be hit by septic tank laws

Inspection charges will cost an estimated €550,000 across County Cavan
The owners of the 11,000 stand alone houses in rural County Cavan are entitled to the same consideration as urban dwellers who benefit from modern state supplied and maintained sewerage schemes.
That is the firmly held view of local IFA man, Jim Maguire, who echoes the association's opposition to the introduction of a new registration and inspection regime flagged last week by the Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan.
