At the age of 10, Josh Leahy from Kingscourt started primary school for the first time this year, going straight into second class - a proud moment tinged with sadness because his grandmother didn't live to see it. Delighted with Josh's progress with mild to moderate autism, mum Maeve wants to thank the staff at the school, Josh's special needs assistant (SNA) his home ABA tutor and Autism Ireland for helping this boy who couldn't speak at the age of five to finally set off on the path of mainstream education.
