The drive to have funding approved to provide appropriate toilet facilities at St Mary's Boys School in Belturbet was given renewed impetus when Deputy Brendan Smith raised the issue in the new 'special topical issues' debate in the Dáil last week.

After hearing Deputy Smith's outline of the crucial requirement for a new toilet block in the school, which has an enrolment of 76 pupils, the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn, TD said he shared the Deputy's concern in this matter. "I will take a personal interest in the appeal process."
