No funds for private lanes

Sixty-four applicants left high and dry in Cavan

Gerard Coyle, Tommy Coyle, Roisin Reilly, Oisin Fitzpatrick, Chloe Reilly and Cormac Reilly residents of Corcloghan, Ballyhaise, are unimpressed with the state of their road. They had applied for funding under the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) five years ago but the government has signalled that there will be no funding for this scheme in 2012.
Cavan County Council may be unable to carry out works to resurface private lanes and roads across County Cavan in 2012 if the government proceeds with plans to axe the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS). Plans to suspend the scheme were flagged in the government's Budget statement last month, but the details emerged at the Budget meeting of Cavan County Council last week.
