Lisdarn unit to remain open

Fears that the Lisdarn Unit for the elderly might be closed or downgraded have been dispelled by the HSE this week. Instead, there will now be greater connectivity with Cavan General Hospital to facilitate a step-down service for patients who require some more care before returning home.
The area manager of the Cavan-Monaghan Hospital Group, Leo Kinsella. told The Anglo-Celt this week that they are now at a stage in their review of services and that they can make a definitive announcement that the Lisdarn Unit will not be closing. He also emphasised that neither will it be downgraded.
