'I'd go to jail before I'd pay a tax on my home' ‑ protester

The Government is to leaflet every house in the country as a reminder to people to pay the new Household Charge ahead of the March 31 deadline, and in the meantime plans on reviewing the full list of over 100 estates in Cavan currently exempt as it seeks to implement a more encompassing valuation-based property tax.

Some 106 estates across county Cavan are currently exempt from paying the €100 household charge as outlined in the last budget.
