Attention for drama lovers turns to Shercock

After the success of the 66th Cavan Drama Festival all eyes turn to Shercock for the All-Ireland Confined Finals next week. The launch of the eagerly anticipated drama festival takes place this Saturday at 2pm in Shercock Hall. Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society (DADS) who won the confined section of the 66th Cavan Drama Festival will be amongst the nine groups vying to scoop the national title in north County Cavan. Meanwhile Carrigallen's Cornmill Theatre Group will be focussing on the All Ireland Open Drama Festival in Athlone having won the top prize at the Cavan festival. The event was hailed by the greatly experienced adjudicator, Don McMullen, as the highest quality he's ever judged. "Don said that overall the standard at the festival was higher than any other he had ever adjudicated at, that the acting was of an incredibly high standard and the sets were particularly striking," committee member Rachel Cullivan told the Celt. "He said there literally wasn't a weak or bad play - they were all of an incredible standard." See this week's Celt for who won what at the 66th Cavan Drama Festival.
