Upturn or flatline?

To the casual observer the streets of Cavan town appear more bustling than 12 months ago we've all heard anecdotes of busineses bucking the national trend, and activity on the Celt's appointments page has increased noticeably. To discover whether the county is witnessing the first green shoots of recovery, the Celt team is currently compiling an extensive news feature. The piece will aim to speak to people from a wide range of sectors - retail, service, tourism, farming - across the entire county and seeks experiences on the ground. Nationally CSO figures have shown that house prices remained static last month for the first time in almost two years. In the same period, Dublin house prices have increased by 0.7%, while the cost of apartments stabilised. However as Britain has just entered a double-dip recession, and with the next Irish Budget set see another 3.8billion in saved between tax hikes and expenditure cuts, are we yet to face the full force of this recession?
