Nominations are now open for the Cavan Business and Tourism Awards 2012, a joint initiative between The Anglo-Celt and the Cavan Chamber of Commerce. The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, will be the special guest of honour at the awards at a gala ball in the Hotel Kilmore in Cavan on September 27 with Cavan-born entrepreneur Sean Gallagher on the judging panel.

The awards, proposed to run annually, will be on a county-wide basis. To date, sponsors include Cavan County Council, and Cavan County Enterprise Board with others to be confirmed in the coming weeks. In all, nominations are being sought in eight categories - with three sub categories under the tourism banner.

Judging will take place in early September and a special supplement, featuring all of the businesses selected as finalists, will be published in The Anglo-Celt prior to the awards ceremony.
