Gardai investigating after boy (3) fatally injured in two car collision

Gardaí at Carrickmacross are investigating a two car fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Annamarron Co Monaghan on the N2 (Main Dublin/Derry Road) at approximately 6.30pm yesterday (Monday May 5).

A three year old male infant passenger was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in was in collision with another car. The 36 year old female driver of this car was critically injured and removed by Air Ambulance to Tallaght hospital. Two females (driver and passenger in the other car) were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Carrickmacross Garda Station on 042-9690190, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station. They are particularly anxious to speak to the driver of a lorry who stopped at the scene of the collision.
This section of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will remain closed overnight. Diversions are in place.
