Castlerahan not to appeal over floodlight failure

Castlerahan will not appeal their third round defeat to Mullahoran during which there was a floodlight failure, The Anglo-Celt understands.

The club had claimed that the match had not been fully completed because of the floodlight failure in the later stages of the first half of extra time and maintained that minutes of play were owed to them from the first ten-minute half and its extra time.
Castlerahan lost 1-15 to 2-11 and were thought to be going to the Disputes Resolution Authority but the Celt now understands that is now not the case, despite club chairman Tony Brady telling this paper that he thought they would go all the way. “I have a feeling that we are going to the DRA. We were told the case is strong,” he said.
However, the decision to not go ahead with the appeal, which would have cost €1,000 in a deposit and potentially more if the decision went against them, is understood to have been taken at a club meeting last night (Tuesday, September 23).
The county board has confirmed that Mullahoran will now go ahead and play Ballinagh in the SFC quarter finals on Sunday at 7pm in Kingspan Breffni Park.
