Bjd man appears in court following arrest

A Cavan man accused of tax offences and threatening to kill a garda appeared in the circuit court in Dublin yesterday, Wednesday, October 16 after being arrested in Westmeath on two outstanding warrants.
Paschal Kelly (49), who is originally from Dublin but has a current address in Ballyjamesduff, Cavan, also appeared in the district court for the execution of two further warrants related to 13 road traffic offences.
Detective Sergeant Daniel O’Driscoll told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that Mr Kelly was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, at 7.20pm in Castlepollard.
The detective sergeant said the accused was wanted on two outstanding circuit court warrants related to allegations of failing to make a valid tax return and threatening a member of An Garda Síochána.
Defence counsel Sandra Frayne BL said her client was consenting to a three-week remand in custody. Mr Kelly will appear again before the circuit court on November 6.
