Council passes vote of no confidence in irish water

Cavan County Council has this afternoon passed a vote of 'no confidence' in Irish Water.

The vote of no confidence was proposed by Sinn Féin's Eugene Greenan at today's monthly meeting. He requested that it be passed to the Office of the Taoiseach. The vote was carried with all Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin councillors supporting the motion and Fine Gael members rejecting it.

An earlier motion by Fianna Fáil's Shane P O'Reilly what withdrawn in favour of the vote of no confidence. Cllr O'Reilly had tabled a motion on the agenda: In light of the ongoing controversies and lack of information, that Cavan County Council calls for the immediate suspension of Irish Water until a satisfactory and definitive outcome has been found.'
