Severe frost predicted tonight for cavan as temperatures plummet

A severe cold front is set to replace the recent blustery conditions tonight, according to weather experts.

Air temperatures are expected to fall as low a -3oC after the rain abates and the cloud cover breaks up.

According to Met Eireann the freezing temperatures will not set in until well after midnight and motorists would want to be on the lookout for frosty and icy conditions on roads early in the morning.

Tomorrow (Friday) will be a cold bright day and it will be dry for the most of the time. However northwest Cavan could experience the odd snow shower, as significant snow is expected in Donegal and is likely to drift further south. The temperature is only expected to reach 3 or 4oC degrees.

There will be no exceptionally strong winds, but if you are out and about, you will feel the biting cold air.
