Amanda and michael to bid for macra crowns

Ramor Macra’s Amanda Monahan and Knockbride Macra’s Michael Smith will represent Cavan this evening, Saturday, January 31, in the annual North West Macra Kings’ and Queens’ event. The Cavan pair will head down today to the Sligo Park Hotel, where they will be paired with their respective King or Queen from the North West region, and enjoy a fun-filled day of games and tasks to complete in their 'King and Queen’ teams.
Michael Smith is in his second year as a member of Knockbride Club. He’s currently enjoying his role as club treasurer and keeps a keen eye on the books. He enjoys participating in club events and giving a helping hand or making a cuppa when called for. Michael is delighted to be representing his club in Sligo and is looking forward to showing his Cavan charm and broad smile and winning points and hearts in the Northwest.
Amanda Monahan is a member of Ramor Macra for the past four years. During that time she has being actively involved in the clubs running as PRO officer and is currently in her second year as treasurer. Last year she took on a county position as joint PRO. She has competed with the club in different competitions like capers and volleyball and participated in many successful club fundraising events for Charity. She is eager to follow in the footprints of fellow Ramor member Eamon Sheridan, as last year’s winner in this event. The evening starts at 7.30pm with the introduction of the Kings and Queens in the Sligo Park Hotel. After the banquet, there will be some short fun interviews on stage with the King and Queen Teams. The winning Northwest King and Queen 2015 will be crowned and they will receive a monetary prize, impressive crowns, perpetual trophy and prestigious title of Northwest King and Queen 2015. Following the announcement, there will be music, dancing and celebrations 'till late. All this for only €25. Entry to the afters is just €10 for Macra members (must present Membership Card on entry) or €15 for non-members.
Separately, commiserations to the Knockbride debating team, Gabriel Fitzsimons, Lynette Pritchard, Eoghan O’Reilly and Daniel O’Reilly who narrowly lost out to Treble R Macra. Best of luck to our Ramor Macra team, Mary Owens, Eimear Gilsenan, Kevin Gilsenan and Grainne O’Reilly who will compete against Berrings Macra tonight in Carraroe Hall, Sligo.
