Former senior pd to address cavan business womens club

The former deputy leader of the Progressive Democrats will be amongst the guest speakers to address the Cavan Business Women’s Club.
After a long and eventful career in politics, that saw her retire in 2007, Liz O’Donnell moved to broadcasting and public affairs consultancy. She will share her experiences of her career in politics and public life, concluding that a life in Irish politics is not for the fainthearted.
As Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms O’Donnell had a role in Anglo Irish relations and was a member of the Irish Government negotiating team at the talks in the North, chaired by Senator George Mitchell, which led to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. She now frequently speaks and lectures on the peace process.
During her political career she served as Justice Spokesperson and Whip for the Progressive Democrats and was Deputy Leader of the Party. She was a member of the Committee of Procedures and Privileges and the Committee on Foreign Affairs. Ms O’Donnell was also a member of the Commission of the Houses of the Oireachtas, the Body which controls the budget for both the Dáil and Seanad.
Tuesday's other guest speaker is Clare Mulligan, an expert in Strategic Networking. In her workshop Ms Mulligan will outline why it is now more important for business professionals to develop a strategic approach to their networking goals.
