Judge assigned to regions district court position

The Government has permanently assigned a judge to serve on the bench of the region's District Court sittings.

Judge Denis McLoughlin fills the vacancy for a permanently assigned judge in District No. 5 which arose with the retirement of Judge Sean MacBride on March 15 earlier this year.

The decision to appoint Judge McLoughlin, who was appointed as a judge of the District Court on June 6, 2007, was taken at a Government meeting today, May 27.

Judge McLoughlin had served as a moveable judge since his appointment as judge, and as reported in The Anglo-Celt, his name was among the front-runners to fill the position left by former-judge Sean MacBride after 16-years.
