Blessfest
Where: Blessings Bar, Cavan
When: Runs to Sunday, August 2
What: Comedy on Friday night with Kevin McGahern as the main man and music after with Daragh Slacke - back by popular demand! Saturday sees music by Reprisal and The Thin Thieves along with Celt faviourite Áine Cahill. The festival comes to a climax on Sunday - first up at 7pm is Parviz. Then it's the Wolves of Youth before Wildfire rock it out to close the festival.


Arva 3 Province Festival
Where: Arva
When: Runs until Monday, August 3
What: One of the biggest events will be the Wet, Wild ‘N Wacky Raft Race on Gartylough beside the Swimming Pool on Thursday night - July 30 - involves making a raft of any material and paddling around a course on the lake. This year’s festival will see the return of the hugely popular Outdoor Cinema, Bed Races, Street Games, Heritage Night, Market Day, Live Music, Football Blitz, Fishing Competition and much more. On this Sunday night the fabulous Bagatelle will play the Breffni Arms Hotel as part of their last Irish Tour. Festival of the Hills

Where: Drumavaddy Community Centre

What: Commences on Friday, July 31 at 9pm with the performance of the hilarious ‘Mock Wake’ in Drumavaddy Community Centre, followed by refreshments and music by Ian Pickens. Full bar facilities. Admission €10.
Saturday, August 1: Events at the Festival of the Hills include: A community walk from the Community Centre at 3pm.
A tractor pulling competition at the Tank Bar at 7.30pm followed by barbecue and music by Ollie Tynan.

Where: Crean’s Bar, Oldcastle
What: Music by Púka & Anthony Pakenham; they’ll be screening the animated movie ‘Conan and the Magical Light of Loughcrew’ by the guys at Kitchen Cupboard Productions; art will be displayed by Lisa Brady; and host Ollie Burns will be chatting to writer Tina Halpin. There’ll also be some special guest performers on the night. The evening will start with a BBQ from 7.30pm, and there’s free admission!

Trad Concert

Breffni Challenge

What: The Breffni 3 Province Challenge - all routes will take the cycle through the 3 Provinces of Ulster, Connaught and Leinster. Start/finish in Arva. Online registration at Precisiontiming.ie.
You can also register on the day, but make sure to arrive at least an hour before your event is timed to start.The 100k cycle commences at 11am. The 25k cycle commences at 1.30pm.
